1957 Letter from The Macmillan Company to James Card, about Louise Brooks
1957 Letter from The Macmillan Company to James Card, about Louise Brooks
July 25, 1957
Dear Mr. Card:
Our Sales Department will be sending you a set of galleys of Arthur Knight’s book, THE LIVELIEST ART very shortly. I certainly hope that you enjoy reading it.
You have probably heard from Louise Brooks that we have reluctantly declined her project. I enjoyed reading the pieces on Joan Crawford very much, and am sorry that this did not seem a book that Macmillan could undertake.
Cordially yours-
Charlotte Painter
